Clarksville Police find man shot, gun in hand

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Clarksville Police, responding to a call about gunshots fired, arrived to find a man lying on a road with a gun in his hand. He had been shot several times.

A police spokesman said the man was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he died around 11 p.m. Tuesday, about three hours after the shooting.

Police said they have few details and seek public help developing the case.

The name of the 50-year-old victim was not immediately released, pending notification of his family members.
