Clarksville man charged with impersonating officer

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Clarksville have charged a man with impersonating a police officer and are asking people he might have pulled over to contact them.

Police arrested 23-year-old Derek Antoine Miller of Clarksville on Tuesday, charging him with criminal impersonation. He was released from jail on bond.

A woman whose child was in her car said she was pulled over in October by a man in a gold Chevrolet Impala. But the man wore basketball shorts and a black shirt, not a uniform. He asked for her license, but became nervous when she also handed him her handgun carry permit. Police said the man returned her identification and quickly left.

The woman saw the car again on Dec. 13 in her apartment complex and called police.
