CLIFTON, Tenn. (WTVF) -- Four inmates were injured, another was killed after a fight broke out between the prisoners at the South Central Correctional Facility in Clifton.
Officials said the incident occurred around 1 p.m. in the dining hall, on the yard in front of the dining hall and in two housing pods. The fights involved 15 inmates.
Staff on site used non-lethal force to stop the fights, and the prison was placed on lockdown. All inmates were confined to their cells with escorted movement, and visitation was cancelled until further notice.
Four inmates were transported offsite to hospitals in the surrounding area to treat their injuries. One inmate died at the prison due to his injuries. No one on the staff was hurt.
