MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Police were called to Shelby County Commissioner Terry Roland's speech before the Collierville Republicans after he threatened to hit another commissioner over a redistricting dispute.
Roland made the threat Tuesday night at a restaurant in Memphis, The Commercial Appeal reports.
Commissioners Brent Taylor and Heidi Shafer said that Roland and Thomas -- both Republicans -- were debating the contentious redistricting issue.
Taylor said Roland told Thomas that he was going to knock him out of his chair.
Collierville spokesman Mark Heuberger said police were called to the restaurant but no charges were filed.
Several months ago, Roland threatened to fight Commissioner Steve Mulroy after an argument over school board appointments.
