CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Cracking concrete along the Chattanooga 21st Century Waterfront could cost millions of dollars to fix.

The project was dedicated in May 2005 along the Tennessee River in the tourism district of the city.

An engineering consultant told the City Council on Wednesday the ultimate fix to the walk along the river would be a steel wall to halt erosion.

Dan Garza of HDR Engineering Inc. said there was no immediate threat of any of the structure breaking off and falling into the river. Depending on the work done, the remedy could cost between $4.8 million and $7.8 million.
