Couple, infant son perish in home fire

CLIFTON, Tenn. (AP) -- A fire has burned through a Wayne County cabin, killing a couple and their 10-month-old son.

Ray Hooper told WSMV-TV the dead included his son, Ty Hooper; his daughter-in-law, Elaine Hooper; and his grandson, Dillon Hooper.

Firefighters said the one-room cabin was engulfed in flames when they arrived early Tuesday and propane gas tanks near the home had ignited. The cause is under investigation.

Ray Hooper said he and his son had used materials from an old grocery store to build the cabin, which had electricity, but no running water.

The elder man described his son as a "good working boy, trying to take care of his family."
