JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (AP) -- Charges stemming from a fatal car crash in Washington County have been dropped after the defendant died.
According to the Johnson City Press, 53-year-old Jeffrey Lyons was facing charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, reckless aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment.
A judge dismissed the charges this week after the defense attorney reported to the court that Lyons was dead. A death notice in the newspaper stated Lyons died "unexpectedly" on Aug. 26.
He had been charged in a July 2010 crash that killed 56-year-old Sharon Perkins.
