JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- More information is becoming available about a school bus wreck that sent more than 25 students to hospitals in upper East Tennessee.
The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security on Friday publicly identified the driver as Brenda K. Gray of Jonesborough, who is in her mid-50s.
Gray was also taken to a hospital after the Washington County school bus she was driving flipped over Thursday afternoon. The bus was carrying 63 students from David Crockett High School home after classes.
County schools spokeswoman Susan Kiernan said Thursday night that one girl was in critical condition after surgery. She said some others had head and neck injuries while yet others had minor cuts and bruises.
Names of injured students were not released.
Additional counselors were at the school Friday.
