JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- This is ""civility week" at East Tennessee State University.
The week includes events designed to cultivate a deeper understanding and value of diversity while nurturing a culture of kindness, courtesy and respect on campus. The week's theme is "Think. Live. Respect."
The official start of the event is Monday night with a gathering in Brooks Gym to discuss language and stereotypes that demean individuals and populations.
The ETSU Student Government Association initiated the week and is sponsoring many of the activities.
