Ex-mayor given suspended sentence in bigamy

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A former Tennessee mayor has been given a one-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to bigamy.

WREG-TV reports former Oakland Mayor Scott Ferguson married a woman on Valentine's Day in West Memphis, Ark., while he was still married to another woman, with whom he has four children.

Ferguson was also ordered to pay $350 plus court costs on the misdemeanor.

The station said Ferguson had nothing to say as he walked out of court after Thursday's court proceedings in Marion, Ark.
