First Memphis homicide of 2013 found in car trunk

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Memphis were inspecting an abandoned car when they discovered the city's first homicide of the new year.

A police spokeswoman said officers found a male body in the trunk of a 2001 Mazda Millennium on Wednesday afternoon. The person's identity wasn't immediately known.

The body was that of a man, about 22 years old, and it bore an apparent gunshot wound.

The time and date of the homicide wasn't immediately clear.
