MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged a Covington man in the fatal shooting of a Ripley store clerk.
Agents charged 35-year-old Kevin Grandberry with one count of first degree murder and one count of especially aggravated robbery.
Grandberry was booked into the Lauderdale County Jail on Friday in lieu of $500,000 bond in the killing of 38-year-old Deepal Patel.
The TBI said the cash drawer stolen from the convenience store on Highway 51 was found several days later behind the Lauderdale County Alternative School in Ripley. So was a piece of cloth the robber used to cover his face.
A TBI forensic specialist used DNA from the cloth to match it to Grandberry.
