SEYMOUR, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department is holding a meeting tonight for people interested in becoming a live-in firefighter.
The SVFD recently received a federal grant giving them enough money to pay for nine live-ins and a Grant Coordinator.
The grant also provides tuition assistance, firefighting gear, computers at each station, and physicals.
Folks interested in the opportunity must be willing to be enrolled in a two-year or four-year college and commit to a minimum of 36 hours of standby time a week.
The meeting is Monday, October 29th at 6:00 p.m. in Station One at 101 Ford Hill Lane in Seymour.
