NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The local American Red Cross and Goodwill organizations are teaming up to better serve people in Tennessee during a crisis.
The Tennessee Volunteer Region of the American Red Cross provides assistance such as shelter but isn't able to take donations of clothing or household goods due to limited resources to sort through and distribute the donations.
But in a partnership that will be announced on Friday, the Red Cross is teaming up with Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee's Goodwill Cares program to take donations during disaster relief.
In exchange, Goodwill will provide the Red Cross with Goodwill Cares gift cards that can be given to those who have suffered a loss. The cards can be used to purchase clothes or household items at any Goodwill store in Middle Tennessee.
