MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- The trial of a former Middle Tennessee State University student accused of stabbing her roommate to death will be heard by a Hamilton County jury.
Shanterrica Madden is charged with first-degree murder in the March 2, 2011, death of 21-year-old Lady Raiders basketball player Tina Stewart at their off-campus apartment.
Attorney Joe Brandon Jr. has said that Madden stabbed Stewart in self-defense.
The decision to seat a Hamilton County jury came in a Thursday order from Judge Don Ash. Details of the jury selection process will be discussed at a Monday hearing
Madden is scheduled to go on trial in May in Rutherford County.
