MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The deputy superintendent for Memphis City Schools says he is resigning at the end of April as officials investigate a sexual harassment claim against him.
The Memphis Daily News reports that Irving Hamer announced his resignation Wednesday.
The sexual harassment claim centers on remarks Hamer allegedly made about a co-worker at Feb. 18 party at the home of Superintendent Kriner Cash.
Hamer's work with the Memphis school system includes helping win $90 million in funding over several years from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
