NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam has appointed former state lawmaker Richard Montgomery to be the new chairman of the Board of Parole.
Montgomery replaces Charles Traughber who retired last week after serving 30 years as chairman.
Montgomery, who is 66, was appointed to the Board of Parole in January. Prior to that, he represented Sevier County in the House of Representatives for 14 years. One of his duties during that time was chairman of the House Education Committee.
Montgomery is retired from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where for 27 years he was operations manager for UT-Battelle, the consortium that manages the lab.
