'In God We Trust' bill passes the Tennessee Senate

A bill, sponsored be State Senator Stacey Campfield, passed the Tennessee Monday evening.

'In God We Trust' was placed on the Anderson County Courthouse last year after county commissioners voted in favor of the move.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A plan to put 'In God We Trust' on the state capitol is moving forward.

A bill, sponsored be State Senator Stacey Campfield, passed the Tennessee Monday evening.

Some lawmakers questioned why Tennessee would put a national motto on a state building. But in the end, the bill easily passed.

The House will vote on its version of the bill on Wednesday.
