MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- An interim police chief has been appointed to lead the Millington Police Department, after the current chief resigned.
The Commercial Appeal reports that Millington Mayor Linda Carter has named Lt. Rita Stanback as the city's interim police chief.
Stanback, a 15-year veteran of the department, replaces Chief Ray Douglas, who resigned from the department effective Friday.
Carter tells the newspaper that the resignation did not involve the case of former mayor Richard Hodges, who hired Douglas.
Hodges is facing several bribery charges over actions while he was mayor. He resigned in January.
