SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT-TV) -- Attorneys for Jacob Stanton provided amended and additional grounds in his motion for a new trial yesterday. Stanton's legal representation first filed a motion for a new trial in September.
According to yesterday's filing, law enforcement resumed interrogation after Stanton's attorney, Lee Wheatley, asked them to not speak to Stanton.
Stanton is also requesting a new sentencing hearing "because the current sentence is based upon the court's reliance on inapplicable law."
