NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A committee is seeking donations to finish and care for a Nashville monument of President Andrew Jackson.
It is to be dedicated May 28 at the Old Hickory Veterans Memorial Park east of downtown Nashville. The Memorial Day dedication is to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 when Jackson became a hero. He later became seventh president.
The monument will list his political career, military service and a quote from Jackson, known as "Old Hickory." He was from Nashville.
Donations may be made through the park website, www.ohvmp.org .
