Jackson nightclub where shooting took place closed

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- City officials say the owner of a Jackson nightclub where one person was killed and 20 others injured during a shooting has agreed to shut down the establishment.

The Jackson Sun reports that Karma Lounge owner Jerry Gardner has surrendered his business and beer licenses in response to discussions between his lawyer and City Attorney Lewis Cobb.

The downtown club was the scene of a shooting early Sunday that sent partygoers fleeing for the exit.

Police say at least three people fired handguns after a series of fights in the club. No arrests have been made.

The shooting killed 19-year-old LeCarlos Todd of Memphis. Eighteen other people were shot and two more were trampled as club patrons frantically scrambled to get away.
