Jeep driver killed in crash with school bus

THOMPSON'S STATION, Tenn. (AP) -- State troopers say the driver of a sport utility vehicle has been killed in a collision with a Williamson County school bus.

The bus driver and 18 students aboard the bus escaped serious injury in the crash near Thompson's Station on Thursday.

According to The Tennessean, the fatality was identified by the Tennessee Highway Patrol as Jesus M. Diaz De Leon. Troopers said it wasn't clear whether De Leon stopped his Jeep before pulling onto Columbia Pike into the path of the bus, which was carrying students to Independence High School.

The bus driver was taken to a hospital for observation and students were examined for injuries by emergency medical technicians at the scene. One of them was removed from school later by his parents because of a minor injury.
