JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze that resulted in the death of an 87-year-old East Tennessee woman.
The Johnson City Fire Department says the blaze was reported Friday afternoon and a neighbor was able to partially extinguish the flames before firefighters arrived.
A statement from Johnson City police said Francis Tipton died from injuries suffered in the blaze. Police said an autopsy would be performed, but no foul play is suspected.
Fire officials say flames caused minimal damage to the residence, but smoke damage was moderate.
The cause and origin of the fire were still under investigation.
