Knox County Commission agrees to censure Jeff Ownby

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) County Commissioner Jeff Ownby faces criticism from his peers on the commission a year after exposing himself in a public park.

The commissioner, father of two and foster dad of five was picked up a year ago during an undercover sting after a report of illegal activity in Sharp's Ridge Park.

Police found Ownby having oral sex with a man named John McCraken

Although a year has passed the commission has not formally or publicly said anything about Ownby, until Tuesday's meeting.

Only one commissioner voted no to the public censure.

Ownby apologized to commissioners for the first time in a written letter he had already read in court.

His apology was part of a court agreement that allows him to have the crime removed from his record.
