NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- State lawmakers will review the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's files on allegations against District Attorney General Steve Bebb of Cleveland.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports the review comes after Tennessee Attorney General Robert Cooper on March 25 released a report finding no prosecutable evidence against Bebb.
Accusations against Bebb included prosecutorial misconduct, financial misconduct and lying under oath.
The attorney general's report did criticize Bebb's office for poor judgment, mismanagement and deficient record keeping.
Questions about Bebb's office were first raised in a series of articles in the Times Free Press last summer.
Lawmakers say that because of the public nature of the allegations and Cooper's report, they feel obligated to look at the TBI investigation themselves.
Bebb's 10th Judicial District includes Bradley, Polk, McMinn and Monroe counties.
