Legendary bassist Chuck Rainey to perform at TSU

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Legendary bass player Chuck Rainey will lecture and perform at Tennessee State University on Friday.

Rainey is the first guest in a music lecture series at the university.

He will combine his lecture with a demonstration of his techniques and songs, to be followed by a question and answer period with the audience.

The lecture and performance will be held in Poag Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. CDT.

During the early 1960s and 1970s, Rainey toured and/or recorded with some of the most prominent artists of that era. They include: Sam Cooke, Etta James, Jackie Wilson, Harry Belafonte, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack and Quincy Jones.
