Madison County officer demoted after probe

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- An investigation into the possible assault of two inmates at the Madison County Penal Farm has resulted in the demotion of an officer.

According to The Jackson Sun, Sheriff David Woolfork demoted Sgt. Vick A. Kendrick on Tuesday after an internal investigation. Woolfork said Kendrick will lose more than $6,000 annually because of the demotion. He has also been relieved of supervisory roles in the department.

The department did not release specific allegations against Kendrick or the names of the inmates, but said the investigation has been closed.
