Man charged with vandalizing Nashville mosque

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police say they have arrested a 27-year-old man after a Nashville mosque was vandalized.

Police charged Kyler A. Wilson of Nashville with burglary and felony vandalism in connection with the damage at the Al-Farooq Islamic Center early Monday morning. Wilson is accused of forcing his way inside the mosque, breaking windows and turning over tables, a water cooler and a vending machine. There also was damage to the windows of two hearses parked outside. There was no graffiti.

Police say after a taxi driver reported seeing a man running from the center dressed in boxer shorts, they found Wilson nearby sleeping in a car wearing only his boxer shorts.

Police said Wilson told them he drank heavily, doesn't remember what happened and bears no hatred toward any religious group.
