NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A judge in Nashville has sentenced a man convicted of killing a karaoke bar disc jockey to 23 years in prison.
According to The Tennessean the sentence imposed upon 47-year-old Hank Wise on Wednesday was two years short of the maximum prison term for second-degree murder.
Prosecutors said Wise's dispute with victim Ben Goeser arose after Goeser's wife accused Wise of sending her tasteless email messages.
Her husband confronted Wise and the tension escalated when Wise came to Jonny's Sports Bar, where Ben and Nikki Goeser both worked in 2009. Authorities said Wise was asked to leave after making a customer feel uncomfortable. It was then that Ben Goeser was shot and bar patrons subdued Wise and held him until police arrived.
