Man injured by Nashville street sweeper

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Nashville say a man has been struck and injured by a street sweeping machine.

WTVF-TV reported the man was apparently trying to kick some debris under the machine when he was knocked down by it and one of his arms was caught under the vehicle early Friday.

Rescuers disentangled him and he was taken to Vanderbilt University Hospital with what were described as critical injuries.

The victim's name wasn't immediately available, nor was the nature of his injuries.
