HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Convicted murderer Jacob Shaffer has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Shaffer was found guilty in the 2009 bludgeoning death of Sidney Dempsey in Huntsville and pleaded guilty to killing his estranged wife, her son, brother, father and a neighbor in Lincoln County, Tenn.
WAFF-TV reports Shaffer waived his right to appeal, apologized and asked for forgiveness.
Shaffer told investigators he killed Dempsey to prepare himself for the beating and stabbing deaths in Tennessee. Shaffer is already serving a life sentence in Tennessee.
