CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- The sheriff of Hamilton County says a homicide suspect police had been searching for has killed himself in a Georgia motel room.
Terry Lee Releford of Soddy-Daisy had been sought since his wife, Tammy Releford, was found dead inside a home on Sunday.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/12PaUsk ) reported Sheriff Jim Hammond told reporters authorities in Gordon County, Ga., were negotiating with Terry Releford when the suspect shot himself in the head.
Hammond said Tammy Releford's two daughters, both of whom are juveniles, were in the home when their mother was killed and one escaped to summon help. Police say Tammy Releford appears to have died from a beating, but it is possible she was also shot.
County records show the couple was married in August 2012.
