Man dies in Maury County house fire

MOUNT PLEASANT, Tenn. (AP) -- An early morning house fire in Maury County has killed a man.

WKRN-TV in Nashville reported the alarm came in around 3:30 a.m. Thursday in Mount Pleasant.

Investigators said the 72-year-old victim was alone in the house and it appeared he had been trying to escape when he died.

A newspaper carrier discovered the fire and phoned it in.

The victim's name wasn't immediately released.
