SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- For many company executives it is all about the bottom line, but one CEO has a message for those company leaders, that showing love will get more results.
Joel Manby, President and Chief Executive Officer of Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, says leadership is about the bottom line and care for your employees.
Manby spoke in Sevierville on Thursday to tourism leaders at the Governors Conference on Tourism. Manby was featured in the CBS show Undercover Boss and says he solidified why this unique approach to leadership helps employees and employees better perform.
Manby has written a new book called "Love Works" and in the book he looks at 7 principles to loving employees more than the bottom line numbers in a board room.
"I got overwhelmed with a response from people that they wanted to work for a company like Hersend Entertainment or like Dollywood and people were really hurting out there," said Manby. "So that's one of the reasons I wanted to write the book to give other people the permission to lead with love."
Profits from his book will go to fund the Herschend companies foundation that helps support employees who have a family disaster that puts a financial burden on them.
Manby says Agape love should be applied to business, he says helping his employees has boosted moral and their commitment to help the company grow.
