Manhunt in Friendship after police chief shot

FRIENDSHIP, Tenn. (AP) -- A manhunt is under way after the police chief in the small town of Friendship was shot at a Dollar General store.

Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce told the State Gazette that he requested the assistance of Dyer County and Dyersburg law enforcement officials for the search.

Klyce also said the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Jackson Police Department were performing an aerial search from helicopters.

Garrett was flown to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis after the Friday night shooting. On Saturday, he was listed in serious condition.
