County worker killed by lawn mower identified

COLUMBIA, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities in Columbia have released the name of a Maury County maintenance worker who was killed in a lawn-mowing accident.

County Mayor Jim Bailey told The Daily Herald the man was 48-year-old David Haynes, who had worked for the county for a decade.

The accident occurred at the Maury County Industrial Park, which is within the Columbia city limits.

A passing motorist saw an overturned riding mower Monday morning and stopped to investigate. The motorist called 911 when he found Haynes unresponsive. Emergency medical technicians found he was dead at the scene.
