Mayor Tim Burchett announces second "Cash Mob" location

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett announced two businesses for the second cash mob: The Disc Exchange and Wee Care Shoppe on Chapman Highway.

Disc Exchange carries new and used CDs, vinyl records, and DVDs. Wee Care Shoppe is a children's consignment store offing clothes and toys.

Disc Exchange CEO, John Bevis, says employees have been busy working to get the store fully stocked for what is expected to be a large crowd. He says it has been a week long effort.

"We're in it together, we want all to survive, we all want to prosper and do well," said Bevis. "We've brought in a lot of stuff just for this weekend and we've marked down a few other things to 5 or $10 for this weekend.

The cash mob will be from 5pm to 7pm Friday night. Both stores are located next door to each other. Area businesses are invited to take part to Friday’s event to give out information about their businesses.
Last Month the cash mob went to Emery's 5 & 10. Owner Ron Emery says business has faded since the one day event, but he says there's still new people coming through who heard what his store has to offer.

"I think it's done a lot more than it was suppose to do. Mayor Burchett was even surprised how well it's done," said Emery. "People see it they come back, they bring their friends and that's been a real boost to us."

The cash mob has become a full South Knoxville community event. Shoney Bear, the mascot for the Shoney’s Family Restaurant, will be on hand to greet children and hand out coupons. In addition, Archer's BBQ and Petro's will be in the parking lot.
