Meigs County deputy hurt in grapple with suspect

DECATUR, Tenn. (AP) -- A Meigs County deputy is recovering from an injury he received in a scuffle with a man he was serving a warrant on.

WRCB-TV in Chattanooga reported the incident occurred Thursday night as Sgt. Cordus Waller grappled with the suspect and both of them fell off the Blythe Ferry Bridge into Gun Stalker Creek. Waller broke a wrist in the fall and was later released from a hospital after treatment.

The suspect ran, but was soon captured by other officers.
