MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A Memphis city police officer has been suspended from duty after being charged with domestic assault.
A warrant was taken out for 53-year-old Lee Potts on Wednesday. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was called Friday and found a 37-year-old woman who had visible injury to her face. Potts -- who was off duty at the time of the incident -- was charged with striking her. He was relieved of duty later that day, per department policy.
Potts has been a city police officer since March of 1998.
