MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Two Memphis police officers have shot and killed a man who tried to run over them with his car.
The Commercial Appeal reports the owners of a store in south Memphis called police around 9 p.m. Tuesday about a man sleeping in his car in the store's parking lot.
Police say when officers arrived and confronted the man, he became agitated and tried to run them over. The two officers opened fire and struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the man has not been released.
According to the newspaper, the incident is the second fatal police shooting this year, following four in 2011 and three in 2010.
