Mid-South Autism Conference in Southaven

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) -- The second Mid-South Autism Conference is in Southaven this week, and its theme is "Reason for Hope."

Coordinator John Holtzman tells The Commercial Appeal that last year's conference brought more than 700 people to Tunica.

The conference opens Monday at Landers Center and continues through Wednesday.

Holtzman is director of development at an autism center in Memphis. He says he and the center's executive director, Tracy Palm, hope to teach families about treatment options and to teach professionals new ways they can help families.
