ATHENS, Tenn. (AP) -- There is a new newspaper publisher in East Tennessee.
Mike Miller became publisher of The Daily Post-Athenian on Monday.
The newspaper announced Miller assumed the post after having served as publisher of the Winston-Salem Journal in North Carolina.
Gregg K. Jones, president and CEO of Jones Media said the company is thrilled to have Miller, who Jones said has an already accomplished career as a community newspaper publisher.
Chief Operating Officer Ralph Baldwin, who is also a former longtime publisher of The DPA, described Miller as a true professional and said he is pleased Miller agreed to come to Athens.
The son of a publisher, Miller said he always swore he wouldn't work in newspapers or play golf, but said he has embraced both pursuits.
