VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) -- The Mississippi River Commission's annual high-water inspection of Mississippi River levees will take place this week.

The Army Corps of Engineers also will hear local residents' concerns in a series of meetings on the motor vessel Mississippi.

They'll be Monday at River Park in Tiptonville, Tenn., Tuesday at Mud Island in Memphis, Tenn., Wednesday at City Front in Vicksburg, Miss. The fourth and last will be Friday at New Orleans' Thalia Street Wharf.

Three of the commission's seven members are officers of the Corps. A fourth is from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The other three are civilians, and two of them are civil engineers.
