Mom charged after claiming son had cancer

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A Montgomery County woman faces charges after investigators say she lied about her son having cancer to scam people.

Police arrested Ashley King after a grand jury indicted her for theft by deception.

Investigators say late last year she claimed her young son had been diagnosed with cancer, and ended up collecting more than $2,000 in donations.

Investigators say the child was not sick.

King has since bonded out of jail.
