MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged a Tipton County man in the death of his infant stepson.
The agency announced on Friday that it arrested 21-year-old Bryan Austin DeMeza of Munford Thursday night, charging him with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
He is charged in the Dec. 6, 2012. death of 19-day-old old Zayne Hunter DeMeza.
TBI agents said DeMeza admitted he shook the baby and fell on him twice the evening before the child was found unresponsive while in his care. DeMeza put the infant in a bassinet and took him to his in-laws' home. They called 911.
Agents said DeMeza also said he dropped the baby on Nov. 23 and the infant's head hit a door frame on Nov. 28.
The baby received no medical attention.
