Murder trial of ex-Memphis police officer reset

HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) -- The murder trial of a former Memphis police homicide detective charged in the death of his wife is now scheduled for Sept. 24 in DeSoto County.

Seventy-two-year-old Brooks Kelton Green of Nesbit is charged in the 2010 shooting death of Charlotte Green as she sat at a computer in their DeSoto County home.

His trial had been scheduled for June but was delayed.

Prosecutors say Charlotte Green was shot through a window in the couple's Nesbit home. Green was arrested 8 months after his wife's death.

Court records show Green told investigators he was asleep when she was killed and was awakened by her screams.
