NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Nashville police say a 64-year-old man who suffered serious injuries in a fight with a relative has died of his injuries.
Wayne Jones died Saturday afternoon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Jones was injured during a scuffle with his nephew, 51-year-old Leonard Jones, at his home on Jan. 11. Leonard Jones has been charged with attempted criminal homicide after the fight, but police say the charges may be upgraded.
Witnesses told police that Leonard Jones hit Wayne Jones in the head so hard they both fell to the floor.
Leonard Jones fled the scene after the fight, but surrendered to police two days later and remains in jail.
An autopsy on Wayne Jones is scheduled for this week.
