NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Nashville police have arrested a teenager in the death of a Tennessee State University student.
Officers arrested 18-year-old Marquez Mallard on a city street Tuesday night. A news release from the police department says Mallard had an unloaded semi-automatic pistol.
He's charged in the shooting death of Jonathan Finley. The 24-year-old Finley was with two other men in a sport utility vehicle when they reported seeing a burglar coming from a home on Oct. 27. They drove away, but police say the intruder -- identified as Mallard -- fired several shots at the SUV, killing Finley.
Mallard is held on charges of criminal homicide, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, auto theft and unlawful weapon possession by a convicted felon.
