Nashville police wound drug suspect

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Metro Nashville Police detective has shot and wounded a man who refused to put down a handgun during a confrontation.

A statement by the department said officers were responding to citizen complaints about drug activity at a home in the Antioch neighborhood when the shooting occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Police used loudspeakers to order people inside the home to open the door, but officers had to force their way inside.

Police said 64-year-old James Lackey, who owns the home, was in the kitchen and refused repeated commands to put down a pistol. Detective Sean Richmond fired once, striking Lackey in the hand. Lackey was treated at Vanderbilt University Hospital for a minor wound.

Lackey, his daughter Amanda Lackey and David Tucker were arrested, Charges were pending.
